Know Your Library

The economy's impact on libraries is serious. How does that affect Mahoning County's library system?
Today’s Library
is growing to meet the needs of an evolving community - even in this challenging economic climate.  Library use is up. That’s the good news.  In times of economic downturn, the community is relying on its libraries for essential services.  But like so many other organizations, the Library is also experiencing a decline in funding due to the economy.  And although your library is in an unavoidable situation where cuts in spending are required, we remain dedicated to providing the best library service possible while remaining fiscally responsible. >>Learn more

Hours Changed May 3

Hours at some of our library branches have changed. Click here to view the latest hours by location. The changes in hours are minor and cut only 10 hours per week system wide. But the impact on the Library's budget is sizeable, saving about $400,000 per year due to changes in staffing patterns. Mahoning County's libraries are still open to the public 744.5 hours each week.
